I have a little indicator on the sidebar of this website and it says I have 143 subscribers. I am curious as to who each one of you is. I could probably name 12 people from this list as people I know personally and from other denta
l blogs…so who are the rest of you? Visit www.DMDstudent.com and please introduce yourself in the comments section below as I am interested to see who my readers are. A general form could be something like:
Name: Ben, or BRJ (initials), or anonymous
Male or female?
Age?
Predental? Dental? What year?
Resident? Dentist? Assistant?
From the US? Canada? Somewhere else?
Random guy in underwear?
Ready, set, GO.
I also have some more articles on the way. As some of you know we just trudged our way through the trenches of midterm war. We finished just in time because I was running out of stamina. You can only survive on four hours of sleep a night for so long. I may be exaggerating a bit, but there were many sleepless nights taking all the tests and quizzes for radiology, removable, pharmacology, oral path, endo, pedo, anesthesia, and labs for half of these classes. All in all I survived the ordeal…but this is a story for another day. One more Friday left before spring break. Also stay tuned for another website I have been working on!
Also check out SkeletorDDS and his experience as a D1 dental student in the Windy City. Ahhh, the memories. Remember SkeletorDDS, it gets worse before it gets better!

hey Ben,
Not sure if you ever got my email. I’m sure you’re pretty busy with d school. Just wanted to say hi. Hope your wife and kids are doing well.
I’m starting UOP in the fall. I still enjoy reading your posts. Makes me miss PA - not the shootings as much as the Schuylkill bike trail & rock climbing gym.
Hope you don’t mind if I plug my blog: http://www.drstudentdentist.com
Ben, you’re awesome and an inspiration for me. Thanks for what you do with the blog.

As one of my initial inspirations to starting a blog in the first place, I am honored to be mentioned on this fantastic site. You have set the bar for dental blogs everywhere.
Keep up the great work Ben.

I’ve had your blog bookmarked for a while although I’ve only started keeping up with it recently . . . as I’ve been afflicted with Dental School-related insomnia
I’m already loving your very detailed how-to’s.
Here’s mine: http://waxupwaxoff.livejournal.com/
It was meant to be for the pre-dental student, but it’s just morphed into my personal blog.
Keep it up!

Hello,
I’m a 25 yr old pre-dental student, 3rd year undergrad. Female. Kinesiology major, and worked in a dental office for two years. Loved it. Applying summer 2009.
Got married, have two little ones and decided to keep heading up this dental hill. It is not easy, but I feel more focused.
Your blog is great! I look forward to reading anything from crown work to personal experiences. Nice job.
Keep up your good work, you are an inspiration to many of us who don’t yet have our foot in the dental school door. We’ll get there.

Hey, 32 yo dentist in NH; male, you replied ot my blog, so i’ll have to add yours! it’s one of the most thorough of its breed that i’ve ever seen! n ice.
please feel free to add my link to your sidebar:
http://drnate.blogspot.com/
I liked your suggestion for a blog on the website, but as you may have noticed, I have troubl eeven doing one post a month… I won’t claim to be busier than you (in school!) but when I’m not in someone’s mouth or working on the text for the website of working on business tax forms or… whatever, I like to be reading for pleasure, biking, working a crossword or some form of relaxation that I feel the 4 years of hard school work entitles me to…. (ooh, wretched grammar; sorry; i’m distracted by basketball…)
FURTHER, as you may have noticed, my “personal” blog falls under the category of “fun”…you may have noticed I occaisionally poke fun at some patients who’s names are changed to protect the innocent…lol And while that’s a good way to blog off steam, it’s not part of my “official” business model…. my office’s website is more “professional”; the blog is more recreational….
for people who have questions, I’ve included the “ask the doctor” which routes to my email….
take care!

69 year old former lab tech. Hadn’t flasked a denture since 1971. Got the opportunity to work for a dentiist in his office doing dentures only. Needed a tune up on current techniques. Found your site doing a web search. Found it fascinating. Lot of work for you keeping it going I’m sure. Thanks.
Nice to see that dental students have as much trouble mastering the lab techniques as I did many years ago.
Let you in on a little secret…you will never forget how its done. Found I can pour, set up, flask and finish as well as I did in my youth.
Thanks again for a great site and the links.
